According to the World Health Organization and UNICEF (2019):

• 2.2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water services
• 297,000 children under five die every year from diarrhoeal diseases due to poor sanitation, poor hygiene, or unsafe drinking water. (WHO/UNICEF 2019)

Our body is made of 60% water which may vary according to individual’s constitution.

According to an article on healthline, water is so important to body function because water:
• Is a building block of new cells and the key nutrient every cell relies on for survival
• Metabolizes and transports proteins and carbohydrates from the food you eat to nourish your body
• Helps the body flush waste through urine
• Helps maintain a healthy body temperature through sweat and respiration when the temperature rises
• Is part of the “shock absorber” system in the spine
• Protects sensitive tissue
• Is part of the fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and a fetus
• Helps keep joints lubricated

How lucky are you to have access to clean water? Drink up!
